DESCRIPTION: The work of rebuilding our lives after a traumatic event or loss is overwhelming. When we lose someone dear to us, it feels like we have lost a part of ourselves and it can be difficult to even get out of bed in the morning. How do we rebuild what’s left after a traumatic loss? I hope to show ways to re-establish a sense of meaning after trauma, and give honor to the loss you’ve experienced.
ABOUT OUR SPEAKER: Jeff Vidt is a Certified Spiritual Care Specialist and Registered Psychotherapist, and has spent his entire professional career promoting and providing spiritual care. He has worked in a diverse range of health care contexts, including the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, Unity Health Toronto, and various hospices and long-term care centres. He is passionately dedicated to education and helping others learn the ways spirituality impacts health, and has developed expertise in providing staff support in trauma. He lives in Ottawa with his wife and two sons.
At Roger Neilson House (RNH) we recognize that the grief of losing a child is a lifelong experience. We are offering this monthly group for parents to support one another through their grief experience. This group is facilitated by Social Work, and can be attended by any bereaved parent who has previously participated in RNH programming. When at the group, parents can expect a safe space to share their experience with others who understand, and an opportunity to develop friendships. Some sessions may include a specific topic or guest speaker.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please RSVP by noon on THURSDAY, JUNE 16TH.
